Drilling Fluids

ABC is ready to supply our customers^, requirements according to their specifications of different types of drilling fluids as below; which often are  called drilling muds due to their appearance of  the dispersed clays added to most drilling fluids (complex mixture of chemical and mineral components):

• Water-based mud (WBM)

• Oil-based mud (OBM) such as diesel or mineral oil

• Synthetic-based mud (SBM)  such as olefins, esters, linear alpha olefins  or linear paraffin’s)   

Drilling fluids depends on geological factors such as rocks that are going to be drilled and anticipated down hole temperatures and pressures, where the level of inhibition is one of the key parameters.

The selection of fluid type can be influence by technical requirements, cost, availability and environmental concerns.

The drilling fluid is capable of performing a series of tasks during the drilling process as below, where among these vital tasks is the removal of cuttings created by the rotating bits and controlling the pressure in the wellbore:

• Remove cuttings from the well

• Control formation pressures.

• Suspend and release cuttings

• Seal permeable formations

• Maintain wellbore stability

• Minimize reservoir damage

• Cool, lubricate, and support the bit and drilling assembly

• Transmit hydraulic energy to tools and bit.

• Ensure adequate formation evaluation.

• Control corrosion.

• Facilitate cementing and completion.

Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Scavengers

Different technologies can be supplied as H2S scavengers as below:

• Caustic soda solution (NaOH)
• Metal oxides: (Iron oxide & Iron sponge)
• Oxidizing Agents: NaNO3 & H2O2
• Amine Desulphurization Plants: (monoethanolamine or diethanolamine)
